Back in 2017 I helped my nephew to get a Toyota Prius to start driving for Uber to make money and get his life on track by making the downpayment and being the consignor. Unfortunately, in December 2018 my nephew was arrested and he hasn't been able to make payments because he's in jail. The January bill was late without me knowing, I do not follow up with what happens with this account (001010****0371****) because there's one single login to manage it and the only time I received a letter from SETF because a late payment was about to incur, I reached out to my nephew to take care of it.

I've been out of the country since February 20th for work and I moved to a new apartment on January 15th. On Feb 26th, I got a call while I was still out of the country from a rude person and because I didn't want to provide my SSN for safety reasons (is this legal?) or didn't remember the color of the car, she only mentioned to call SETF about the account. I looked everywhere for the login information to check what was going on, had to call my sister who I haven't spoken to in years to get it, note that SETF will take many account owners but will only provide ONE SINGLE LOGIN and paid immediately what was due ($809.93) on Feb 28th... the expiration date was on the 27th.

A few dates later, to my surprise, I started receiving alerts from the credit bureaus that my score dropped almost 100 points because SETF, or probably their very rude customer service representative couldn't wait one single day to report a late payment. This company takes extreme measures to affect their customers if they don't pay on time, even if they only provide one login for this purpose, even if you're only the cosigner and if their customer service is rude to you and will demand your SSN to inform you about the account.

I only got this call on Feb 26th, I made the full payment of what was due on February as soon as I could on the 28th and the due date was a day before (27th), USPS redelivered their letter to my new address on March 13th which I haven't seen yet because I'm out of the country working (I receive their Delivery Daily Digest by email and I have proof of all this) and I moved in January. I called and explained all this, I offered to pay off the debt to have this late payment remove from my score because I'm planning to get married and buy a house, I asked why they went to the extreme to ruin my credit score, I went above and beyond to make the payment and I'm only a cosigner sharing one single login to manage the account. Southeast Toyota Finance responded that the account was late for one single day.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Southeast Toyota Finance, not even big banks behave like this, have such rude customer representatives call you or are looking for the smallest excuse to ruin your life to make sure they get their money on time.

One single day, if not even before, SETF reported this late payment on my spotless credit score.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Southeast Toyota Finance Cons: Extreme measures, Not understanding, Lack of compassion, Greed.

What a bunch of first class BS! YOU agreed to be cosigner.

As such, you are equally on the hook for the loan.

Your nephew did this to you! YOU failed to keep up with the account, which any cosigner with half a brain would have done because they realize the position they are in!

You sound like the previous commenter, are you him? Do you work for Toyota Financial / Ommi World?

One day late for payment... read!

and they hit your score! Leave these corporations to do whatever they want and they will give you *** service and affect your financial life.

Wow. This is totally on you.

NEVER co-sign for a loan. You are just as legally liable for the loan as your dead beat nephew. Large payments will be charged to your credit. All your excuses and reasons are irrelevant.

Just noise. Pay on time or suffer the consequences.

What part of I was out of the country and wasn't receiving the statements because I moved you didn't get? Do you think I don't want to pay this off and get rid of these people once and for all?

Yes and I offered that, I pay all of my bills on time as I did with this one even tho I was out of the country and had to ask for the login info (even though "I'm in the hook" yet they don't provide me with one and the only one who has it is in jail) to pay for the bill and the late fees and the interested involved. Even then, they hit my score right after 1 single day and I'm planning to get married and buy a house. Way to go defending these "struggling poor" corporations when people are actually looking to pay and comply with their part of the deal... hopefully these corporations never come to screw you or your family over because who regulate them when they overcharge you, don't give quality service, raise your rates?

But when you're late with your payments, NO MATTER WHAT, they can ruin your financial life for years.

This is kinda shady and looks like you work for them because it's rare to see a reply like this from anyone, it looks very planned and coincidentally, Anonymous. Re-read and put yourself in other people shoes before you criticize, my family has enough with my nephew in jail.
