Verified ReviewerTurned in my lease, still received a bill
SETF seems to think I still have the leased vehicle even though I turned it in and followed every step of their process perfectly. They can't even confirm what I owe when I call.
Is it the $366 disposition fee (I paid it), is it a $494 fee (they don't know what that is), is it the $503 monthly fee (I paid all 36 payments)? They won't ground the vehicle and close out my account so now I'm left with late fees hanging over my head. The vehicle was returned in perfect condition and 12,000 miles under the 36k lease.
SETF - Why won't you close the account? I held up my end of the lease contract now you hold up yours!
- Can provide you a car
- No resale bad lease end experience

- Hired me as an employee to do their job
- No one can do their job
Preferred solution: Having them tell me to do their job. By doing, they are putting me as an employee of their company. I also want health insurance, 401k, 20 vacation days. My pay is 30 an hour. Since I was told to perform their duties entitled me to employee benefits.
User's recommendation: Prepare to deal with a bunch or corrupt people

Do not use!!!
I purchased from Autonation Toyota in Pinellas Park during the Fall of 2020. Yes, in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
My handy dandy bruiser cruiser, Sully, was on his last leg. That's where I found Pearl, my sassy-old 2019 corolla hb. I KNEW I would get murdered on interest, but really had no other options. I never had credit aside from car payments.
The scummy price guy tried hard to press me adding additional stuffs and was visibly frustrated I wouldn't allow it even though "it doesn't change your price... of your monthly payments". But it would have changed my overall payments, psht. NO!
Anyhoo, I pay bi-weekly, half & half. I like many people have gone through tough times, especially during & since COVID. I almost always pay ahead in those circumstances. I am aware that they do not advance the due date even though you've paid 3, 4, or even 5 months ahead.
And they will 100% zing you that late fee. It is semantics. Are you late, technically. Are you really late, no you're ahead.
It really screws everything up to try to be on top of things and be "ahead". Realistically, they aren't losing/missing out on what you owe for that next month, they are just practicing, legalized, predatory tactics. It gives them more $ to zing you that late fee plus other additional penalties. You get more fees when you ask for an extension and use it.
It's very mean csr when you get a hold of them. They will refuse to refund any fees and abide by their semantics that they are not doing anything sketchy. Again, it's all semantics. I am not saying I don't owe.
I understand there's a late fee and due dates don't advance. It's just *** when you ask for a courtesy as a person who pays regularly, half of total monthly payment (+ additional) bi-weekly, and they screw you even more. I'm so over this and them.
I kind of want to start mailing them rolls of pennies as payment. Make them work for what they're taking.
- Good car
- Predatory
- Malicious
- Excessive fees
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Don't use them for financing
3 different payoff amounts
I had 3 different payoff amounts...I called customer service...what a joke. My statement that was mailed said my payment was over $1000..and when I logged in to my account there were two other amounts.
I asked which amount was correct...she refused to to tell me the correct amount because I wasn't the account holder.
I was told to pay whatever the amount showed on my account page...I explained that there were two amounts and she still could not tell me what I should send in to pay off my car.! I do not recommend Southeast Toyota Finance they *** And them son of a b**** better send my title and they better report it to the credit bureau that it's paid off!

They scam you and screw your credit up
In 2013 I leased a vehicle. I returned that vehicle in June 2016 and purchased a new vehicle.
They SOUTHEAST TOYOTA sent ME a check within a couple months of returning the leased vehicle. I specifically remember being flabbergasted and calling my dad about it because I thought for sure I would owe money for the 4 inch scratch from a snow shovel or even a dog hair cleaning fee (I was 23). In November 2022, they called me and said I owed them money. I thought it was a scam and immediately hung up.
A week later, they called again and said I owed money. I said I havent had that car in 7 years and yall sent ME money back for it. Now youre telling me I randomly owe money with zero reason how you came to that conclusion?! They said they would give me more details if I provided the number that was on the account.
An account I havent had in 7 years. I legitimately still thought it was a scam and hung up. Here I am in August 2023 deep diving why my credit score looks jacked up and the only explanation on Experian is this delinquent bill from *** SETF! What a load of bs.
So conveniently they wait 7 years to say I owe them money, then report it as a charge off so it now gets stuck on my credit report for another 7 freaking years! Im furious! My credit report shows know data from June 2016 to Nov 2022 then a random delinquent bill and then no data, with all the months between 2013 and 2016 showing never late on a payment. And now that its been over 7 years, I cant even prove that I cashed a check from them.
How does someone have a past due bill from something they turned in 7 years prior with no bills in between??? Tell me thats not all a scam.
User's recommendation: DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING

Verified ReviewerPayment kickback
I financed my first vehicle ever. Made my first payment accidentally twice.
The account did not work for whatever reason, I paid correctly within 24 hours with another account. I am being charged 2 insufficient funds fees for an honest mistake! My money is simply being stolen from me. On top of the payment that I made correctly, they tried to charge my principal and say my payment was over 10 days late, which would've incurred another late fee.
For somebody who is 24 years old, financing their first vehicle, SETF doesn't care about you. They are just a business that is out there to collect your money and take advantage of you for your slightest mistake then offer zero assistance. The people taking calls do their jobs but they act like their backs are against the wall. I could understand if I have made this mistake before but this was my first ever payment!
I made an honest mistake and now I am being charged $60 extra when money is already tight. It is very disappointing, if I could switch financing companies I would. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. I'd give zero stars if I could.
Just another company out to collect that is all they are. I promise they do not care about you whatsoever.
- Customer service is awful
Preferred solution: I would like my insufficient fund's fees removed since I made an honest mistake on my first payment ever!
User's recommendation: Finance with another company or make sure you make every payment correctly our your money will be falling out of your pockets into SETF's hands.
