Car Paid In Full No Title

I just got off the phone with Southeast Toyota Finance for the fourth time in less than a month. On April 9, 2012, I paid off my 2005 Toyota RAV4 but have not received my car title.

At first, I was informed that due to the type of payment, I would have to wait 10-14 Business days before they could mail the title, so I waited. After the alloted waiting period, I contacted the company again with a second phone call. This time they tried to convince me that they have mailed my title, so I must have overlooked it in the mail. Hence, the mail has been checked daily, but there has not been any title sent.

The customer service representative did take the time to suggest that I accept a "Lien Release" that could be taken to the Motor Vehicle facility where I could apply for a title. Can you believe it, now they want me to pay for my car title.

Finally, I decided to give them 72 hours to mail my title, or I will contact an attorney and see what happens after filing a complaint with damages. I can't believe this is the same company that will harass the *** out of you, if you are a few days late, yet drag their feet when they have been paid in full.

I am going through the same ordeal as well. It has been 5 business days since they have received a cashier's check paying off the full balance as requested and they are giving me the runaround.

They are blaming the situation on the accounting department and stating that the check was lost. I have never received a phone call regarding the situation and have an unpleasant response when I try to contact them.

Now 'Sam' claims that western union would've been the best way of payment when I was told that only cashier's check would be accepted. I am beyond furious with these people.

I am going through the same exact situation. After calling back numerous times about title, they sent me a lien release and then back tracked stating I live in the state of Fl and that it was sent electronically.

Fl didn't have electronic titles when I paid off my vehicle. If I want to get a title I now have to pay $90!!

After reading numerous reviews for the same issue, I am going to contact the Attorney General for an investigation. Spoke to two separate tag offices in FL and they stated I'm not the only person they have heard his from.

Guest

Dear Dena, Althea, Terry Kaufman, or whoever else bogus person(s) that Southeast Toyota Finance keeps using to issue and solicit more lies, please beware of the following:

I have contacted the following agencies in Tennessee: Richard H. Roberts, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Revenue (Taxpayer and Vehicle Services Division and Robert E. Cooper, Jr. Tennessee Attorney General(Dept. of Commerce and Insurance & Division of Consumer Affairs).

Just received a call from Dena-Sr. Representative who now states that they have released my title to the State of Tennessee and now they can't get a duplicate. Even though I have yet to receive my original title.

Next, stop lawyer office. Sick of BS!

Repo car

I had my car repo this morning and I called the office to make my account cuurent and the rude rep all she told me was so " YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE ENTIRE BALANCE". I dont understand this is my first time having my car repo and they didnt take any consideration of letting me pay everything current ALL THEY WANT IS THE PAYOFF AMOUNT.

That is insane the way the economy is how can I pay it off. THEY DIDNT WANT ANYTHING THE THE PAYOFF. At least the could have work with me since this was my first time. If I have known that I would have paid the balance last night.

SEFT IS FULL OF ***. I AM HIGHLY UPSET AND IN DISBELIEF.

Reply to Kevin: Yes, it is very easy to tell someone "you should just have paid the current amount" but in all likelyhood that would have meant not meeting another "agreement". Things happen, emergencies happen.

It is not a reasonable expectation that if your car is repossessed you will have to pay the full amount to get it back.

I have a new Corolla and never would have thought that. Fine print or no it is a *** business practice especially for first time offenders and sitting in your ivory tower defending it makes you a *** human being.

Erika o Sxj

I had other obligations to pay at the time sir. I was going through some financial difficults

Guest

If you had the money to pay it off to current then you should have been paying it off as per a signed agreement. You have no right to be upset because you lose your car when you didn't fulfill your end of the agreement.

Setf allowes you to postpone payment a couple of months. i have done it 2 times.

(i am four months behind in payments) .

if you cant pay for some emergencies just tell them your problem, they will be kind enough(?) for some time. its economical for them to wait a couple of months than to incur repo fee :zzz

Lease Termination- Information give when I first called

I received the invoiced with the amt owe and some other info, so I called to tell I recieved them & check if they checked on a charge they should have not added since the inspector was wrong on 1 part. She looked up the information and told me not to worry because the deal the car was in purchased the car, so they did not have to auction it.

I asked her does that mean I do not have to pay the 636.18, and her reply yes you do not have to pay it. A week later someone calls and tell me I have to pay it. I told them but they totally ingnorted what I told.

If you every purchase a car do not go through South Toyata finance, rather go through another bank. I have ad more problem dealing with them

Car Paid In Full No Title

I came across a complaint by Jacqualine of Nashville, TN on 05/16/2012 againest Southeast Toyota Finance. I just want to inform that the same exact thing happened to me.

I paid off my 2008 Toyota Corolla in full but still have not received my title document. They told me the same old story that the title was lost by USPS. After several calls, they sent me a copy of the title with owner as VT Inc TSTEE WOLT and AL Holding Corp as Lien Holder. They also sent me a "Release of Lien", a Bill of Sale and a Power of Attorney.

They advised me to approach Department of Licensing WA state where I now live and apply for a title. I would not have minded paying but the Dept of Licensing but they rejected these documents on the grounds that they work with originals rather than copies. I called SE Toyota several times but they simply do not wish to resolve the issue and even hung up on me one time. I have just sent them a letter explaining my predicament by USPS Certified mail to SE Toyota finance PO Box 991817 Mobile AL.

When I track the letter at the USPS portal it says "scheduled for delivery on July4, 2012 and today is already July 10th. In other words this address given at the SE toyota website is either bogus or SE Toyota is refusing to accept the the letter for reasons best known to them. Is there a solution to this problem? I have paid in full but SE Toyota has not given me a title.

They do not wish to hear from me, it looks like. Is there any watchdog in this country-somebody like BBB listening? These predators are duping honest people like Jaqualine and myself even after fully paying up and need to be restrained. Is anybody at all listening?

.

I have knocked on the doors of Department of Licensing WA state to no avail. Somebody advise what are my options, please or have I run out of options?

The same thing happened to me! I went to sell my 2000 Toyota Sienna Van, and when I went to find the title, I found I did not have one.

I filled out the form to take to the DMV to apply for a replacement title. When the clerk entered the VIN # into the system, it came back "No Title Issued". No title has ever existed for the vehicle and I cannot get one.

I even called about a title bond, and you have to have a Bill of Sale for that. I received NOTHING!!!!!

Guest

I would contact the gentlemen above and if that doesn't work I would take legal action. Sounds like you have a solid case.

I paid my Toyota Camry off and, as soon as I did so, my account was inactivated online so that I'm unable to find any information about it and, when I call, the only information I get is that the electronic lien will be released in 14 business days. That point has come and gone and I can't get any answers from a real person either.

WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! My next step is contacting the Attorney General's office.

Worst customer service

Setf have the worst customer service people I have ever dealt with in my life. Yes I had a repo and yes I am trying to handle my case according. I spoke to a woman by the name of Felicia she suppose to be a supervisor if she is than they need to send her to trying classes. I told her that I made my pymt online and they still did not care. They only wanted a payment in full. The way the economy is who can get a loan out for sure of a high price. I she told me to stop my pymt unless I pay off the entire car. Such a waste of time. I would think Setf would work with you instead of against you. She would not even let me talk to a manager. After advising her that I just took a loan out to finish my Nursing program but did she care NO. I hope that they can help people instead of trying to hurt them.

I understand how a reasonable person would think that someone with a differing opinion MUST work for the company being complained about. That was sarcasm in case you failed to pick it up.

Don't make things up just to try to make your story sound better and more pathetic. You would have mentioned your grandma and the online payment before if it were true. Please go back to my last post. If you can't afford your bills then work a second job until you can pay for school and your bills!!

I still don't like the sound of a nurse who can't take responsibility. You may be a good person.

I don't know you personally. You are not responsible if you take out a loan for school when you clearly can't pay for your car loan.

Erika o Sxj

I didn't think that I needed to say all of that. I guess I will let you in on a little more about me.

I work part time and go to school full time and on top of that I attend my grandmother who is 86 years old and suffering from dementia. I am a responsible person but who doesn't fall short sometimes I guess that would be you!!!

Guest

Wow! Interesting!

In your last post you mentioned nothing about making a payment online.

If you can't afford your bills then work a second job until you can pay for school and your bills. I don't like the sound of a nurse who can't take any responsibility.

My debit card was compromised through fraud and there was a long process of closing my account and obtaining new account/debit card numbers. In the process, I'd made a payment by check prior to this incident, and the check did not clear my account before it was closed/repopened. When the check was returned, SETF did not call me at all, they began calling people in three states with the same name as mine. I received 3 calls from Florida, 2 from SC and 2 from Alabama from individuals saying that SETF was looking for me for non-payment and asked them if they knew me, and gave out my name and address! WHY DID THEY NOT CALL MY HOME PHONE LISTED ON THE ACCOUNT?! So these kind individuals looked me up (since they had my name and address thanks to SETF), and alerted me to this thinking it was identity fraud! I was mortified! First because they did not call ME, and secondly because they gave out my personal information to complete strangers! I plan to pay my account in full at the end of the month and sell my Toyota and have vowed to NEVER own another Toyota vehicle. This is not the first incident! Last year my neighbor passed away from complications of breast cancer. She and her husband were newly married and I suppose she had not added him to her car loan information. SETF actually called me out of the blue and asked if I knew this lady because her car payment was 45 days past due! I was quick to inform them that yes, I did know her, and it was probably past due because she had DIED and her husband hadn't gotten around to all of the paperwork since he'd just buried his wife the day before! Really? Then the agent asked me to go down and asked him to call them! My reply? "You can't be serious!" So sorry for the loss of your wife, but SETF wants you to call them because her car payment is late. (I don't think so!) This is the most horrible company I've ever encountered!

SE Toyoto Finance - Broken

I almost don't know where to begin... so will try to recap a long story would take 1000 words minimum):

Trying to buy my deceased fathers car coming off lease in July. I am executer of estate

Obtained loan. Toyoto has been sitting on the paperwork for weeks (supervisor has)

Now I am past due on June payment. Unable to process payment and dont trust they will refund since I would be overpaying based on loan docs.

Really is quite unbelievable. This has been going on for weeks. Nobody has answers, no return calls. Poor dad had similar frustrations.

Scary Incompetence

Trying to buy a car off lease - 3rd party (from my fatehers estate) - including a couple payments left on the lease. Have financing, sent a check and can't get them to send me the paperwork to execute the deal.

Never call back, no answers, paperwork with supervisor always. The most frustrating experience ever. Other comments I have heard and complaints I have read about lead me to believe there is something very very wrong with this company. Not sure I want to make this deal happen any longer.

I get concerned if I make another payment they will not refund.

Or if I dont they will tarnsih my credit. Also, concerned that if I do manage to pull this deal off I will never receive the title.

Screwed me over

It amazes me that after calling SE toyota for weeks I can't get through to anyone who can actually do some work. All I seem to get are people who are rude and have absolutely no common sense. I'm not asking for a miracle. I can't register my vehicle in Florida because the cosigner, who was deported to South America, has a suspended license. Every tag agency I call says that World Omni can and should remove him from title so that I can register my vehicle and continue to pay for the car yet every time I call I get the only runaround. Why the hassle?????? All I want to do is be able to use the *** car that I'm paying almost $600.00 a month for!!!! :( :? :cry :( :? :cry

I leased an '08 Toyota Camry from them 4 years ago. Returned it about 2 months ago, never got the letter until I called them first. Now they are saying that my account is two months late. First of all, why would I call two months later and ask you for a letter if I already have it? Since I never got it, you are suppose to be understanding about my situation and realize that it is NOT 2 months late, I JUST NEVER GOT IT. The car was returned with 6000 miles less than my limit (42000 instead of 46000), and all it has it regular wear and tear that a 4 year old car would have. So I started explaining them my situation - I lost my job about a year ago, but did my best to pay off my lease so I don't ruin my credit. They did not want to work with me back then a year ago, to which I said it is ok, I signed the lease, so I will pay for the car. Now they are charging me $2300 for lease end fees. Seems like they make bets there as to who will rip off customers more! I swear those people should burn in *** for being for not understanding. Right now, I am in a horrible situation right now, sold everything I have at home and keep searching for a permanent job ( I get babysitting gigs of off craigslist for pure survival). I moved out of my apartment to a friend's place. I am pretty much considering on daily basis whether I should eat .25 cent noodles for dinner or put that quarter away to pay them at the end of the months...All this was explained to the representative and all that heartless woman said ( I still remember how not caring she sounded) is oh, sorry , all I can do is lower your payment amount to $2000 if you pay it right away. I am thinking about borrowing money from some of my friends and paying it to them, but I will not be able to give more than 700-****, if that. They are not willing to compromise at all. So after I got off the phone with them, I sat there and thought about it for a little and realized how stupid they really are. I pretty much called them and offered them my money ($700), versus nothing if this goes to collection agency and ruins my credit and they said they don't want it!!! I don't even understand why I am still trying. People, please be smart - do not rent from Toyota Finance! They will rip you off by the book and they don't care about anyone but their paycheck...How do their managers sleep at night????

Dear Ms Davis

for one, you can start either answering the phone number you left to contact you, or at least returning people's calls instead of leaving messages on here to make the company look good. Your representatives are not willing to work with me, and I am getting ready to give up by now.

Seems like it's better to ruin my credit history than ruin my nerves by trying to give you money that you do not want to accept.

I offered $1000 to pay off my debt, and your representatives refused...where in the world does one say no to money and chooses to get none instead...This company is so rude, how are you guys still in business? oh yeah, I forgot, because you rob people of their last bread to pay off some debt that's overpriced anyways...

It is funny that I was about to payoff my toyota and I pulled up this website. Overall Southeast Toyota has been the rudest lending auto company or any lender for that matter.

I could describe at least four cases where they made mistakes with my payments and then hassled and burdened me with correcting their errors. One time my payment went to lala land and was told I had to double pay until they found the payment within their accounts. Their customer service represenatives are very rude not compassionate and would be consider bullies.

Today I tell you goodbye and I will never use you again. You should be embarrassed to call yourself a business and Buyer Beware!!!

telling an unemployed person that they owe you $1600 in two payments is not a resolved situation. I never made an agreement to pay it, simply because I can't even afford that much and talking to my lawyer right now on how to resolve this situation. Honestly, it is cheaper for me to pay the lawyer and file bankruptcy, then having to deal with you guys, unwilling to compromise and make reasonable deals. Please let me know if you have anything better to offer me, the most I can give you is $1000 in 3 payments and that's a max or I won't be able to make any payments at all ( my lawyer is asking even less to file bankruptcy ). If you are willing to understand my side and be helpful in my situation, feel free to give me a call. You have it on file.

South Eastern Toyota Finance fails to provide adequate customer services

Last year, I financed a Toyota through South Eastern Toyota Finance. I have financed cars through Honda and Toyota in the past and assumed this company would offer comparable service. However, my customer experience has been a nightmare from the beginning. I originally signed up for automatic bill draft from my checking account but was told to continue making payments on my own until I received a letter stating that my automatic payments had been set up. I was continually told by customer service to continue paying my bill as they had no record my enrollment completion. One particular month I paid my bill and they also drafted a bill payment, overdrawing my bank account. Mind you I had been instructed to make this payment because they said my enrollment in bank draft was not complete. When I called to reconcile the matter, I was told there was no possible way to return the duplicate payment, even if the error was on their end! I was forced to take up the matter with my bank which charged me a fee for a check reversal. I was so irritated with South Eastern Toyota Finance for giving me inadequate instruction, costing me a bank fee and being completely unapologetic about the matter, that I unrolled in the bank draft program and opted to submit the monthly bill payment myself. South Eastern Toyota Finance subsequently blocked me from electronic check bill pay options for 13 months citing my "returned check". This month I needed to make a payment in this manner (from an account that did not have a debit card associated with it). I was told that I could not use online bill pay for this option because of the block, but they could process it over the phone for $15! Essentially, when South Eastern Toyota Finance makes a mistake, the customer should be penalized and have their account services restricted. The only response I ever get from this company when I need customer service is "NO". They are the "NO" people. No, they cannot remove a block, or wave a fee, or answer any of my questions with certainty. And their online services are not as extensive as those I enjoyed with Honda or Volkswagen. I would not recommend this company, nor would I use them to finance another vehicle. South Eastern Toyota Finance and their parent company, World Omni Bank, make Toyota look bad by taking the joy out of purchasing a new car.

I was assessed fees and late charges...For paying ahead...?

So get this! these idiots assessed me with late charges and NSF fees for paying on time and paying ahead.

The scary thing is that they have this messed up after only 2 payments into the loan. What happened was that I set up auto pay after my first manual payment. the first payment I made was for $50.00 more than the amount due and I included a note stating I would like any difference to go towards principal. The next month I see a auto withdrawal from my account that I did not recognize because it was for an amount not even close to what my payment was for.

After contacting my bank for clarity, I was told it was Toyota Financial South East and the explanation was, get this "miscellaneous fees" I told my bank to not honor it and that I would contact Toyota Finance S.E. for an explanation. To make sure nothing was missed I went ahead and made another payment online for the correct amount. When I finally "broke" through the ridiculous automated phone system to get a live person, I explained what I had found out and was told the amount was already sent to their collections department.

I was then transferred and when the person in collections looked into my account, they said it was a mistake and the account was corrected and updated and a letter of apology would follow. Well I just received that letter of apology stating I am seriously delinquent for the amount originally in question and would no longer be qualified for auto payment due to insufficient funds. Further more my online account shows a mounting balance past due as well..

Long story short, I will be paying off the vehicle to get the h*@!

away for this incompetent organization. My advice to you is to stay as far way from Toyota South East as you can!!!!!

Nickel and Diming with Lease Return and Obsessive Collection Phone Calls

Updated by user Dec 28, 2011

Southeast Toyota has contacted me regarding my specific situation, and much to my delight, has made things right. They were professional, understanding and open to correct what I believe were their errors in dealing with a returned leased car.

They actually took very seriously the fact that I have been a long time customer and didn\'t want to lose my business. I will complain when something is right, but I will also praise when something is corrected.

After extreme frustration in dealing with Southeast Financial, I am happy to say I am now satisfied with the outcome. I am just sorry that it had to come to posting a comment on this website to get heard.

Original review Nov 27, 2011
I leased a Toyota Rav 4 and returned it after my 3 year lease had expired. This car was located at a second home that we used several times a year where it was garage at all times. The car was returned with only 13,000 miles on it. Unheard of for a 3 year old car. After being a loyal Toyota customer for years, and having leased many cars, Avalon, Rav 4 and Lexus, I was stunned when I received a call that I had not paid my end of lease fees. What fees, I asked? Never received a bill. When I returned the car to the car dealer to lease another Rav 4, the car was inspected and I was told it was in great condition. Luckily, I took my own photos before I turned it in. I told them I don't pay bills based on a phone car, which by the way, were frequent and consistent and also required photos of the so-called "wear and tear". When weeks later I received the bill, I was stunned at the cost and no photos. I am in the process of fighting the photos and the bill and would NEVER lease with Toyota again. They have hit a new low, when they have to go after a 3 year car with 13,000 miles on it for dings! I have NEVER received an end of lease bill from any of my prior leases with Toyota. Has business gotten that bad, that they are going after long time good customers for several hundred dollars? And, the loss of a customer and all family and friends as well....

Why return a car with only 13K miles on it? At that point, you are giving away money by not just paying off the residual value and keeping it.

Can I talk to a decent customer service representative who can listen to my issue and provide a solution without harassing me over phone.

I have leased a car with Southeast Toyota, recently some one hit my car in the parking lot and ran away without leaving a note. So I called Southeast Toyota customer service to check how to proceed further, but the person who spoke literally sounded like "GET THE REPAIR CHECK AND THEN CALL ME". I spoke to my insurance and they are ready to provide repair check but I have some other questions that are running in my mind, which I wanted to clarify but the only response that I got from the so called customer service representative is "CALL ME ONLY IF YOU HAVE A REPAIR CHECK". I called them twice hoping someone else will pick up, unfortunately my call was picked up by the same person and I have got the same response with an irritating tone. So can some true customer service representative help me out in this issue at the earliest, since I have scheduled a vehicle inspection with the insurance soon.
