Southeast Toyota Finance scams money from you!

Page 1 of 2 I recently purchased a Toyota financed thru Southest Toyota Finance (STF). I am 6 months into paying my car off and I already have had multiple money scamming incidents occur.
Twice now they have said that they did not receive my payment via mail that I sent off three weeks early. I have great credit and I have never nor do I want to pay any bills late. So, I was encouraged to pay via phone or online to make sure my payment was received in the appropriate amount of time. Now, like most people, I usually only have enough money in my account for one such payment to go through a month, hence I needed to cancel my "lost" check to make sure that if it was to be received by STF sometime in the future it could not be cashed (because I might go in the negative).
Using the phone and online services are great and convenient and that is how I do most of my checking/bill paying ...Yet, Southeast Toyota Finance charges $9.95 for using these so-called convenient services (note: this is the only company I do business with that charges for such services; my mortgage company doesn't even do this).
Ok, so I paid my bill via telephone the first time around it was lost and cancelled my check from the bank (so, STF charged me $9.95 and the bank $30). I can deal with that, however two months later the same exact thing happened. I am sceptical about this whole deal with them, because this time around STF charged me an additional 30 bucks for receiving a cancelled check ($39.95 to STF and another $30 to my bank).
I wonder if they hold on to checks and wait until they are about to be late, contact the consumer informing them about the problem, responsible consumer pays the additional fees/ cancels outstanding checks, and STF reaps the financial benefits of phone/ online services and SEFT fees. I definitely think they may be scamming us.
Be careful with them!

They sent me a late notice and I just knew I had made a payment. They said none was received and I could pay over the phone. When I gave her my checking account number she said they were having problems with 13 digit check numbers so she was going to *** the late fee. She put a note in the account and when it went back to the account she said Oh you had an NSF. I said no. She said well I've already put the note in and hung up. I'm still waiting to see how this turns out.

I do believe that SETF views their customers as a source of revenue to be squeezed for as much money as possible. I sent in a payment and was contacted the following Friday by and notified that the payment was not received. They berated me and insisted I must stop payment on the check anduse their payment service with the extra fee. I refused and told them I would investigate. I followed up monday, and It turns out they had allready received and posted my payment to my account that Wednesday, two days BEFORE they called me. I called back and never could get a straight answer as to what they were trying to accomplish

I have tried several times to have them change my mailing address so that I can receive their bills. I is not getting done. wait on hold for over 10 minutes and get a rude person. Message on phone tells you to go to their web site myworldomni.com. That site is wrong according to person I talked with. This company is awful.

I have purchased 2 and leased 2 vehicles with SETF over the past 11 years and have never had a problem. I pay my bills on time, often sending the payment out just a few days before they are due without any problem. Their website has a feature on it that lets you notify them of a potential late payment (called a "promise to pay") that prevents any "reminder" calls or late letters. I suggest using this whenever you have a problem with a payment. Also - their literature can be a little confucing and teh address you mail payments to can vary depending on where you live, etc. - make sure you mail payments to the correct address. P.S. I agree that $9.95 to pay electronically is ridiculous these days. Good luck!

Absolute worst customer service ever. My mother died three months ago. Have been trying ever since then to work with them in getting her account transferred. They are rude on the telephone. Claim to never receive information faxed or mailed to them via certified mail. Piling fees on top of fees because they are not doing their job. Would never do business with them.

I had a problem with them as well- they credited two months worth of payments to another person's account! It took them a month to straighten it out and they kept telling me to "go ahead and pay it so it doesn't affect your credit" Why would it affect my credit...it was your mistake??! I got a call from them every day and had to explain myself EVERY DAY for a month. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I would recommend signing up for Bill Pay through your bank. It is free at most banks and will not get lost since it is sent directly from your financial institution to Southest Toyota Finance.
